How to get to BigHook in Woods Hole, Massachusetts
. . . and where to stay when you're there.

To get to Woods Hole from Boston Airport or Boston South Station, there is good express bus service to Woods Hole. If you're coming from New York City or anywhere else in New England other than Boston, drive. If necessary, rent a car. If you can afford it, hire a limo (Recommended: The Green Shuttle).

To get to Woods Hole from further away, it is best to fly into Providence (PVD) or Boston (BOS). Both are about 75 miles from Woods Hole. Boston has more flights, good bus service, but traffic is heavy at busy hours. PVD is a smaller, more convenient airport and the drive to Woods Hole is better at busy hours, but the bus service is bad; from PVD you will need to rent a car or hire a limo.

The BigHook conference occurs at The Airplane House. There are three lodging establishments within walking distance of BigHook. These are The Woods Hole Inn, the Sands of Time and the Treehouse Lodge (formerly the Sleepy Hollow). Reservations strongly recommended, but do not book on line. Instead, contact these places directly via phone, fax or email and reference BigHook or David Isenberg's meeting. Some are holding rooms for BigHook participants, others offer a small discount. The Woods Hole Inn is the shortest walk, the Treehouse Lodge and the Sands of Time are a bit more cost-effective.

We strongly recommend that you park at your lodging establishment and walk to The Airplane House. All three inns, plus the Bus Station and the Airplane House, are depicted on the Google Map with walking directions to the Airplane House.

The three lodging establishments are at the top of the map above. The Airplane House is the southernmost mark.

Here are verbal directions for the map-challenged: If you find the Woods Hole Public Library, across the street there will be a green sign indicating a left turn that says, "Marthas Vineyard."  Take that left, go one block and take another left down the hill.  (Important, do not go straight, please respect this Private Property sign.) At the bottom of the hill (one block) go right onto Little Harbor Road.  Follow the road, which becomes Hinckley Road and then turns unpaved just beyond the Coast Guard base. (Ignore the next Private Property sign.) The Airplane House is at the end of this road.
